@helenS those along with The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari are amazing works from that period. In many ways European cinema was really outpacing American in terms of subject matter and techniques.

@JohnnyNoir There's one problem with European cinema: we have always been too much focused on arthouse products.

@helenS but European cinema was highly influential in shaping both world cinema and Hollywood with their films.

@helenS of course a lot of American cinema beginning in the 20s benefitted from the post war depression and the subsequent rise of fascism in Europe when many filmmakers came to America
