Being famous is really not that cool.

I think a lot of actors, if not most like to hide behind characters. I know a lot are actually quite shy.

@SW-User I totally support people;s right to privacy etc. I would not bother an actor, but many just are star struck and want to say hello. It is not like seeing your doctor in the street.

It's the fact everyone keeps running up to you. The flashes of camera going off in ur face. They just wanna go grocery shoppin without all the drama.
CathyUK · 56-60, F
@ScarletWitch I understand that, but they must realise that is going to happen
ScarletWitch · 31-35, F
@CathyUK some are born into fame. Not everyone wants to be in the magazine. So and so was caught wearing this and this at such and such with So and So!???
CathyUK · 56-60, F
@ScarletWitch Yes professional celebs who need fame to keep their business going and all that.
AmbivalentFriability · 26-30
They love the acting but not the loss of privacy and ability to live their lives normally. Seems reasonable. I've always thought it a high price to pay to do what you love.

Most actors never make it big enough to get recognised even in their own town. I imagine most don't really have the problem?
CathyUK · 56-60, F
@LiteralElite Yes I reckon that is so.

Acting is an art form and a chance to try on other characters. This is what an actor offers to an audience, a performance. He or she is not obligated to share his or her personal life.
CathyUK · 56-60, F
@bijouxbroussard I totally understand that. When out and about though it is not realistic to expect nobody to want to say hello. That is why I said it is conflicted.
bijouxbroussard · F
@CathyUK I imagine if all fans were respectful in their approach actors (and other celebrities) would be less apprehensive about dealing with the public.
Speedyman · 70-79, M
Lawrence Olivier made a point never to be recognised in public and he was such a good actor he hardly never was
bijouxbroussard · F
Not at all. Sharing the gift of a good performance is their profession, and they have the right to a personal life the rest of the time.
bijouxbroussard · F
@CathyUK Knowing it and liking it are two different things.A lot of performers give interviews and even “meet & greets” to attempt to satisfy the curiosity of their fans, on their own terms.
CathyUK · 56-60, F
@bijouxbroussard I know and charge for autographs. They want to be the center of attention and turn it off and on to suit but the world is not like that.
bijouxbroussard · F
@CathyUK I just noticed I’ve replied to this before. Successful celebrities often have the means to make their world exactly like that. At least in terms of aggressive fans.
HannahSky · F
They probably just want some privacy.
jackson55 · M
Hard to sit and have a meal without interruptions.
PiecingBabyFaceTogether · 31-35, M
Because they love it?
JamieCurtis0 · 26-30, M
