Would a wealthy celebrity asking you to donate to a GoFundMe for a deceased relative piss you off?

Actress Sarah Hyland of the hit tv show Modern Family implored fans to donate to a GoFundMe page set up for her belated cousin who was killed in an automobile crash by a drunk driver. This was controversial because she is a multi millionaire. Context is everything. Assuming she's the richest in her family & likely gets hit up for cash often, is the backlash fair?

Why should she be financially responsible for her cousin's funeral costs? There isn't really enough information provided to come to any conclusions about the type of person she is. How do you know that she didn't already donate? Maybe her family asked her to promote the GoFundMe since she has a large audience?

Let me set one thing straight right now that I see a lot of people holding misconceptions over. She may be a multi-millionaire and worth lots of money, but she may not have immediate access to funds and a lot of it may be tied up in assets. I'm worth well over two million dollars but that money is tied up in properties, investments and my business. I have zero dollars in my wallet right now and about six hundred dollars currently in my bank account. Just because somebody is worth 'x' amount, does not mean that they can produce even a fraction of their worth in any kind of cash amount at any given time.

@Dateless Do you take issue with something I had said? Did I offend you somehow? What is your problem? "Shut up stupid" tells me nothing and if I had made a mistake, I certainly want to correct it.

Oh when you don’t agree with someone you should just call them stupid and tell them to shut up? Makes a lot of sense.@Dateless Seriously, do you even think before you type?
