What's happening to me...?

Last night, I stumbled on to a "chic movie" from 2009 and so identified with it including the self-absorbed guy. It was a common story-line: boy meets girl, falls head-over-heels in love, loses himself, loses girl, finds himself, re-finds girl, loses girl for good, finds a new girl, but told in a series of jumbled flashbacks in a creative way. It had some cheesy scenes that captured the essence of what it's really like. I literally "became emotional" (just like a chic) in several spots including one where the girl cried at a movie.

I don't generally watch movies like this. And, I want to watch it again. What's happening to me? OMG... 😱 am I becoming a chic (from 2009)?

Sounds to me like you're getting ready for commitment! And I don't mean to a mental asylum.... Seeing the 'blank spot' in your life is the sign that you are looking for more in it. The same thing happened to me when I was 25: I had several girls in my life and I realized that I was seeking to choose from among them for my lifetime mate. Here I am - 42 years later and still married to the same 'chick'. No - it hasn't been total bliss but its been a very pleasant life with the benefits now of having two wonderful, responsible, self-sufficient children who now have their own families. Commitment is a sign of maturity, and sentimentality about it is something that will sustain you in your commitment - you can't be in love without being sentimental.
