Time After Time (1979) with Malcolm McDowell and David Warner. H.G. Wells has created a REAL Time Machine and uses it to pursue a dear friend he suspects is Jack the Ripper into modern day America. Both men are great but especially Warner as the maybe-Ripper with a tiny homage to Stanley Kubrick's movie "Spartacus".
