@berangere What's frustrating is that the word "narcissist" is often being used for anyone that someone doesn't like. It's weakened the seriousness of it from those whom have actually suffered from real narcissistic abuse. It's not a joke... this kind of psychological abuse has been shown to cause potential damage to the prefrontal cortex or post traumatic stress. It's such a manipulative and cunning abuse one can't really understand it's crazy making unless you've experienced it.

You've given a lot of good information about it in your posts... I hope people see them.

@StarLily No,no one can understand how diabolical narcissistic abuse is unless they have experienced it themselves,people tend not to believe you when you try to tell them they think you are exagerating,making things up. Sadly the term 'narcissist" will always be used indiscriminately by people who want to attack or get back to those they don't like.

@Carissimi hello Carissimi,nice to see you again,I don't visit Similar World very often,being quite engaged elsewhere.Yes as you said narcissism is truly negative so you don't want to hear about it before bed and toxic may I add,but we need to know about it so we can protect ourselves from those people,we need to be educated about it,so we can see the red flags and give them a wide berth,narcissists have been flying under the radar for far too long,they are diabolicaly clever at fooling others even professional helpers like marriage guidance counselors,they are born with a natural ability to emotionally destroy others,it is only recently that the pubic has started waking up to their shenanigans,it is time to bring them to light even if it is unpleasant to do so.Take care.

@Magenta Yes we must learn to recognise them,at some stage when they become toxic we then know we are dealing with a narcissist.
