I Battle Self-hatred, Anxiety, And Depression

In my experience, the people with the most skewed view of depression are the people who've lived with it for a long time. So many of them twist their self stories into pretzels - focusing only on the negative while actively fighting to push away the positive. Everything they're saying is true - but it's not the *whole* truth.

Although that is true, it depends. Biologically derived depression is a different story where the person has a physical misappropriation of essential chemicals LEADING to the difficulty in enjoying the positives. What you are saying is true for people who develop it by train of thought

You're right that it's a lot more true for people who's depression comes mostly or entirely from nurture rather than nature. But I would argue that a biological predisposition to depression doesn't completely (or even mostly) destroy a person's ability to positively impact their depression by recognizing the holes in their self-stories.
