Depression.

It annoys me how so many people see depression as simply just 'being sad.'
Depression isn't just being down. It's not just being sad.

It's like being an immortal butterfly, trapped inside a jar. You can't die, you can't escape, you can't even fly around. You're just stuck there until someone else opens it. Like how in Greek mythology, Ares was imprisoned in a bronze jar by Otus and Ephialtes until another Olympian came to save him.

Yes and for sure, depression is far more than just being "sad". Sort of like looking longingly towards the door of a cage, but not being able to fly out...even it's open.

It also annoys me when people "feel depressed today". If you learn to cope with it, you can have better and worse days, but it's a lifelong condition. Once you get it, it changes your brain structure forever and it always lingers in everything you do. If it only lasts a few days, it's sadness, not depression.

@NerdyPotato Exactly. Or when people joke/pretend about being depressed for attention. There's people who have actual problems. Apparently some people even SELF HARM just for attention, which is just messed up.
I liken it to being encased in cement with no one who can set you free. Still able to see people all around you living life yet never being able to join in.

I often feel frozen . Like I am forcing myself to be alive.

This would be an opportunity to educate ppl what depression really is.

And when depression leads to psychosis, then it’s a total different story.

if people think depression is simply just being "sad" then they have never been truly depressed 🤷🏻‍♂
