Things keep getting worse...or better ...

The home repair people showed up asking for cashier's checks for $120,000, claiming the original $30,000 estimate wasn't included in the rest of the work -- which they never told me. Anyway, the contractor "kindly' drove my wife and son to the bank to get the checks (I'm home in bed after going to the hospital for my heart) and something seemed odd and I'm not sure exactly what happened except the police was called, the contractor realized that and ran, abandoning my wife and son with no way to get home. The police evidently caught the contractor fleeing. No idea what's going on. The police came here and I felt like an idiot telling them step-by-step what happened. And they're looking into it. Meanwhile, someone from the contractors keeps calling, but we're not picking up.

And now I'm headed for bed with my new prescription for depression/anxiety and one to hopefully let me sleep.
Oh, no. Shysters seem to know when it's a good time for a feeding frenzy. At least it got stopped in time! Blessed bank!
@ChipmunkErnie Don't think there's much question. Send calls to voice message and get some rest.

@Mamapolo2016 They hang up as soon as the answering machine comes on, then call back again 30 seconds later.

It's happening right now.
@ChipmunkErnie Do you have a cell AND a landline? If so, turn off the one they're calling.

Police and lawyer both have said don't pay them anything more and call 911 if they show up. We went outside a bit ago and found they'd come buy and removed their dumpster -- we didn't hear them. I hope it's over, but I'm still shaking and taking my new meds to try and calm down. I don't want to go back to the hospital.

You can't make this stuff up!

They gave me "medical" marijuana in addition to my other anti depressants....
Was the contractor a crook or something?

@Spoiledbrat It's looking that way, but I just don't know. The police and bank seem to think maybe. Al I know is the guy ran and had to be picked up by the police, and now his company is calling our house non-stop.
@ChipmunkErnie Be careful.

I'm glad he didn't manage to get away with your money, sounds like he's a con man.

The good thing is that that scammer didn't get your money
Omg! You should have told them to take a hike!
