yeah one aide is better than two when dealing with someone with dementia sometimes

Like we're trying to get my grandmother to understand that she's home. And not in a restaurant 1 hour away. The other aide keeps making her excited with her arms flailing and asking her things constantly when I'm trying to resolve it in a way it ends with granny getting some sleep. I got granny convinced she was daydreaming and the aide got on board and we put her in bed. But jeez. She just came out of Dementia mode. And pattern dictates she'll have a loss of appetite. And tiredness followed by a few good days. And busy dementia mode again. Idk. This other person talks too much, and granny isn't going to forget that she thinks she's at a restaurant. She's still going to think she's not home. It's worked a couple of times before, convincing her she's daydreaming. And the dementia isn't all bad. A few lol moments where she thinks we're being ornery. Or smiling at a non-existing child. But oof this other home aide(family also) woman drives me nuts. Idk whatevs... Tired of people.
i know what it's like. my mom has dementia and alzheimers. :(

Take care of yourself too. Dementia is very taxing on those who are around them. You're doing a great job 🌹

Do you think that your grandmother might be sundowning?

@pride49 maybe at 7 PM if she goes to bed at nine give her a Benadryl

Do this for a couple days until she gets her days and nights sorted out

Give her melatonin at your own discretion because everyone reacts to a differently and it can cause some people to be more awake

@DeluxedEdition they suggest her Lorazepam. It's pain killer plus anxiety relief.

@pride49 yup that’s a good one
That is such a demanding, draining job. I empathize.

Just chain her up and keep her in the shed.
