All these labels are still pretty new. They didn’t exist before, but people did. They lived, laughed, learned, cried, and died. Just like now.
It’s great that science is constantly developing new ways to help, just like orthopedia improves. Some of the most spectacular people who ever lived would today be somewhere on some personality chart.
Not because there are more “neurodivergents” but because we now think we know their name. Maybe we do, maybe we don’t. It’s the people who matter, not the file folders we try to fit them into. It’s good to know and to learn how to handle it, but it doesn’t define YOU.
NEVER forget that any medical professional you encounter could be wrong. They’re people too.
