Sissy and Joel's ex wife
So I talked to her counselor and Joel's ex wife and how she wants to become friends with her. She said it wouldn't be easy for a child typical child but when you add her special needs to it it will be very difficult. She did give me some suggestions to help
First she thinks Joel's ex should send more time at the house. Have dinner with us, watch a royals game things like that. Let her get used to her being around the family and more importantly let her see that she is not going to leave us.
She also feels she shouldn't stop asking her to do things with her when she takes the boys. It's always good to ask but to also let my daughter know it's okay for her to say no. And that no feeling are hurt by this.
That's the biggest fear for her is to trust her and for her to walk out on her life like her mother did.
And second she needs to see that she isn't trying to replace her mother.
She thinks in time Sissy will start to trust her and be okay with her involved in her life as a friend.
It kills me that she is still struggling with her mom leaving us. It's the one thing that I can not fix for her or make better.
So I'm going to talk to Joel about this tonight. I think it's a good plan to start with.
