I wish more people understand her struggles

She’s not a “picky eater.”
She has food sensory issues.

It’s not about being dramatic.
It’s not about being spoiled.
It’s not about “just take one bite.”

It’s about panic.
It’s about texture overload.
It’s about smells, colors, consistencies that feel like too much.

She won’t “eat when she’s hungry enough.”
She’ll starve.
She’ll gag.
She’ll cry.
She’ll shut down.
Because it’s not a choice, it’s a nervous system response.

So yes, we keep a list of safe foods.
We pack meals when we visit family.
We might serve the same few things on repeat.
Because those “limited foods” are what keep her fed, calm, and regulated.

So no, she’s not picky.
She’s navigating a world that wasn’t made with her needs in mind.
And I’m here to meet her where she is, every single time. 💛
