I Have a Child With Autism

My eldest son is 11 years old and he started 6th grade this year. His transition to middle school is NOT going well at all.
grrrrrrrrr.

At the end of last year, me and his teacher put in work to make the transition smooth. It did NOT happen.

His ipad that he uses for communication was NOT there. For whatever reason hes running off a lot and over all they just can't handle him.

He tests people and runs off if he doesn't respect you. I arrive and then he listens to me.

Its the most frustrating thing in the world. I have an appointment next week to meet with some people. I just told my husband today whats going on.

He just said sooner or later, they'll give up and send him to a school with more security, for bad kids. Or also, for special needs kidz with more aggresssive issues.

I feel like they are especially incompetent that they can't even admit that they just might not be the best fit for my son. They just say that they can't bend over backwards for one child. Whatever.

Update

So far so good, I've had to pick up my son 3-4 times from school. Oh boy.

His aggression has been increasing. At the meeting with his teachers we agreed to give it one quarter and then look at other options. He has regressed sooooooo much and so much more aggressive than I've EVER seen him.

Well, yesterday he choked his teacher and is now suspended for 3 days. GRRRRRR.

So I told the teachers to go on ahead and look into other schools that can accomodate him better. And they agreed because his aggression is getting worse and its constantly getting worse.

So thats whats going to happen for now.

im atm 20 and i have had a mild degree of autism, and just wanna say the following. be there for ur child, and do what u can to help him out. fitting into the school enviorment has not always been easy, but for me it has been a lot better after i finished school and started working. the "problem" with autism is that its never the same, and thus i cant help you out other than by saying this. hope is goes well and the best of luck

thank you so much. its frustrating. I arrive and I am stern with him. And yeah he fights back, cuz hes a boy and hes stubborn, but he usually listens.

im not shure how mild/strong his authism is, or if he is mature enough mentaly, but when u think he is, it might be nice to inform him of his autism, and what it is. for most of my childhood i was unaware, but after i became aware, i was able to notice some of the "effects" of autism. because i was able to notice it, i have "fixed" some of the problems i had, and it has given me an understanding of why things are the way they are.

nope. hes lower functioning. he has lots of impulse control issues. lots computer and food. hes hyper and aggressive (some of the time). he loves dinosaurs and dragons and monsters lol

in that case im not shure if its gonna help or not, and due to the fact that it seems like he has a stronger autism than me (also different) im not shure if i am the best person to help out, but hope that it goes well whatever you do, and good luck with whatever happens

Sounds kind of what I was like at his age
I have always been stubborn and when I was a kid I was very hyper sometimes I also loved things like dinosaurs I just loved the idea that they were big and had sharp teeth that sort of thing

yes indeed. very hyper. has a super hard time sitting down, even for food. even his favorite food lol. but i love him. hes my baby.
