I know people who have ADHD and I do a lot of research on a lot of different things that have helped people very much. I believe in natural remedies and have used them for years, very effectively and successfully. I will give you all my notes on it from study although it's not the book of study, still it has helped people and I will leave it up to you whether you wish to try these. Remember. These are testimonies from other people who have ADHD. Not my own experience.
L-Theanine is a miracle : r/Supplements
This non-essential amino acid works through GABA and alpha waves to both relax mood without feeling sleepy and improve cognitive function.
L-Theanine is a miracle : testimony
I started taking 200mg of l theanine about a month ago and i noticed an increase in relaxation, calmness and less stress.
L-THEANINE HAS SAVED MY LIFE
Tips & Techniques
sooooo….as title suggests I’ve been researching holistic ways to manage my inattentive (undiagnosed) adhd. I tried the l-theanine (500mg) from Amazon AND IT HAS BEEN INCREDIBLE. IT WORKED LIKE MAGIC - kicked in about 30 minutes after taking it and it just felt so amazing to have one train of thought instead of 101 LOL. Took it yesterday and today as well and it has really helped with my level of focus at work- even helped with my communication skills (usually I struggle with communicating due to racing thoughts and distractions but I could fully focus on conversations Alhamdulilah (thank God)) 500mg and no, no sleepiness and helps with my concentration and focus :)
Another person's testimony
I also have good results with L-Theanine! I take NOW brand, 200mg capsules, once in a day, but NOT every day. I think it's very important with supplements especially amino acids, to give the body 2-3 days break a week from taking them. It's also best to start slow, so start with emptying half a capsule (or taking a smaller dose) and working slowly up to a higher dose that feels right for you.
BETTER THAN RITALIN??
***That's how I found out I have adhd.. Many years prior to persuing a diagnosis I drank my first matcha tea and it was the first time in my life I experienced the cloud in my mind cleared up. I hyperfixated on the workings of matcha > ltheanine and how it does something similar like ritalin for adhd people. It's great stuff!

I wanted to come back to this, because I started taking 1000 mg of l-tyrosine first thing in the morning and then 500 mg of l-theanine about an hour later, and this combination has been amazing for me. I am not taking stimulants for now and this combo has made me feel medicated without any side effects, so thanks for the post! Been great so far.
L-theanine + caffeine is a recognized nootropic “stack,” and the two interplay very well. In fact, matcha’s renown for providing calm and energy, is due to this chemical interplay. Which is to say, L-theanine is effective on its own but really shines when combined with caffeine.

I actually took some L-Theanine with magnesium today and I was able to focus on my work as well and not have a bunch of thoughts in my head or anxiety. I have ADHD and also suffer from OCD, so it was nice to give my brain and body a break lol

That's great! Did you know it promotes alpha brain waves? Studies have shown alpha brain waves stimulate a relaxing yet wakeful state of mind [1], improving productivity.
I take now the LTo supplement, which is ltheanine + omega, and also eating eggs gives me a great cognitive boost.

I am having great results with l-theanine so far too, but I’m starting out with Matcha tea. I felt the alert calmness in a very short time. In the first day,
My supermarket has a refrigerated coffee called Super Coffee, and it has L-theanine in it. I love it, it smooths out the caffeine nicely, and I do think I function better when I drink it. Take only one cup a day.
If I were you I wouldn't take that with coffee. Just try it by itself.
HOWEVER.... if you decide to drink some coffee take it this way:
What is the best combination with L-theanine?
Paired with caffeine, L-theanine may help increase focus and attention. A small study found that a combination of L-theanine (97 milligrams, or mg) and caffeine (40 mg) helped a group of young adults focus better during demanding tasks. A typical cup of coffee contains 95 mg of caffeine ( 4 , 5).
