I was diagnosed with ADHD. The meds they put people on created a chemical dependence that I rid myself off.
This is often misdiagnosed and could also be the product of a very active creative mind. I hold multiple patents and I continue to contribute to research, something I think I would not be able to do, had I lived a sedentary "mental" life.

@Northwest I wouldn't describe her mind as active. It likes to wander off, but not really to creative places. I know she's not eager about taking meds. I just don't know what other solution there is. She's a high school dropout and can't really get jobs that let her use her mind.
