Late diagnosed ADHD

Any one here been diagnosed late in life with ADHD? As a 45 year old, was recently diagnosed and now a lot of my past experiences, and difficulties, seem to have more clarity.

I’m just curious if anyone else has gone through the same.

I've been trying but they wouldn’t assess me due to smoking marijuana. I was told I would need to quit before they'd do it.

@Starcrossed that would probably make sense.

@martyjay I don't get how that nullifies the lifetime of experiences I've had with attention issues all through my school years. Especially considering they were frequently documented on report cards some of which I could producr. I didn't smoke in my childhood but I was never assessed or treated for it then because I masked well and was able to still pull together good grades.

@Starcrossed it doesn’t nullify. But it would invalidate how they diagnose or test. At least that’s what I’d think.

@martyjay well just because someone smokes pot doesn't mean they don't have ADD. To me it seems like its discrimination to completely dismiss testing someone just because they pissed hot from something consumed 2-3 weeks prior.

@Starcrossed I wouldn’t know. Best of luck to you.
