Why does every second person think they have adhd

Everywhere I go every second person has adhd, if you go on reddit every post is about their adhd. I genuinely don’t believe this many people have broken brains. Some people are animated, spirited, have creative wild minds and are not suppose to be steady, focused, rote or rational. Also I think the younger generation have grown up online and have because of it have withering spans of attention. Really tired of every second person claiming adhd.

I assume many of them self-diagnosed themselves. I'm more concerned about BPD, honestly. I don't think people self-diagnose themselves with it but with the number of people claiming they have been diagnosed, I'm starting to have doubts if it's really that widespread thing. Now if the person doesn't exactly fit the textbook description they label it as "silent" BPD or "high-functioning" BPD. But if it helps to solve their problems... 🤷‍♀️ Hopefully they know what they do.

I noticed the trend to explain behaviour described as symptoms of ADHD as a result of damaged rewarding system and misdirected motivation for which are social media blamed the most. Time will tell how it really is, I guess.
