Suicidal or not?

My boyfriend quit his job, threatened to hang himself and stood in a bridge contemplating jumping off then resigned his job of 7 years. I came to look after him and when he doesn't want to do something for his own good he says he'll just jump out the window. Apart from that he can shower, eat, sleep and play playstation.

I've been suicidal before and I was completely different. I had to keep going to hospital to be given sedatives because I couldn't sleep kept panicking and was always depressed.

Second time I was withdrawn from everyone and lost a lot of weight while I was already slim and then I swallowed all my anti depressants.

The third time I locked myself in the bathroom for a year. Didn't shower for a year and lived out of a kettle refusing to cook and sometimes I'd eat my own shit thinking god will help me if I do that.

That is crazy and suicidal. I was diagnosed with psychotic depression.

I hope he's not using suicide threats as a card. Being suicidal is not easy and needs to be taken seriously.

Maybe calling the emergency services will determine that one way or the other.

If he's faking it, he will be pissed. If not, he will be pissed but likely understanding.

As it is, it feels manipulative to me.

@HootyTheNightOwl that's how I feel too. But I've got to be careful

@UltimateDemiGoddess he's going to see psychiatric nurses they're coming to visit. I hope they can determine wether he is or not and if he is I hope he gets into trouble because feeling suicidal is such a horrible experience and the less people that fake it the more help and resources there is available to help those who are genuinely suicidal and wouldn't have made it without help.
@UltimateDemiGoddess Let's say for a second that he is faking it... that could be a symptom of a mental illness.

Obviously, you know that being suicidal can be a symptom of mental illnesses, too.

Sometimes, "Getting into trouble" isn't the right answer, either. No one should be punished for being sick... not even if doctors don't see how sick they are at first.

@HootyTheNightOwl I don't think he's mentally sick though. But I get what you mean. Today I was stern with him because he just sucked out all my energy and was carrying on. After I was stern a second time he admitted to often deliberately being difficult... I think he got worried because I'm never stern, he started acting grateful for 5 mins then returns to being difficult and ignorant.... He's mentally ill yet has time to be deliberately difficult and mental capacity to get his way.
@UltimateDemiGoddess I'd see what the experts say.

Quite a bit of what he's doing does tie in with various illnesses - so, there's a chance that he could be diagnosed with something one way or the other.
