I’ve heard that people who focus too much on the future are suffering from anxiety. Would that sound right to you?

There's a balance that can be hard to achieve. I know what you mean. There are many plans, but not always executed to your own expectations. You let yourself down and that's self disappointment.
Only pick 1 or 2 goals to be really hard core about. More than that, and you will fail at them all. Still have other background goals of course, but you have to be very selective about which ones are on the front burners.
Put the majority of your spare time into accomplishing the front burners, and some time into working toward your back burner items.
Suddenly, it will all come together. I promise.
You'll also be a very attractive man to very many women with that kind of organized drive. Another promise

The best way is to schedule your daily and weekly tasks. So that you're always moving forward towards your goals.
