@itsok when a Forum like this gets saturated with such threads though, it's hard to take serious. A lot of people just say that because they're craving attention.

What they really need to do is call one of those hotlines or go to a therapist because there's not much someone on a forum can do or say.

@Punches People who vent about their mental struggles aren't attention seeking, they're support seeking.

@Punches I disagree. I understand if someone isn’t in a mindset to see those posts, and I understand even blocking the poster. But mocking people in pain is cruel.
As for taking it seriously, why not? People who are that desperate for attention must be in a terrible amount of pain.
People can also find comfort and help here. I’ve done it plenty of times. Plenty of people here have done the same.
I’ve talked with people here while I’ve been on hold for hours with a hotline and also seeing my therapist weekly for a very long time.

@itsok I agree. If someone is threatened by others ability to seek support and vent their true feelings, it says more about them than than about anyone else.

@itsok so when people call a crisis hotline they get put on hold? Holy crap that must do wonders for how they feel. I mean it's bad enough when customer support put somebody on hold but to be put on hold during a crises?

@Punches they do. There are a lot of people needing help and only so many volunteers. Sometimes during the weekend evenings and near holidays it can take a verrrryyyy long time.

@Punches I called a crisis line recently and no one picked up, I left a message and they still haven't called me back XD

But yeah... people get burnt out and I'm sure they're understaffed

But I was feeling a manageable level at that point so it was okay
