Yeah, that was pretty harsh. Sounds like they are either a newbie in the field or should think about a career change.
The thing about suicide is that it’s permanent and we can’t predict the future. Yes, in this moment (that feels like a lifetime) the pain feels unbearable; but, the fact is it’s truly temporary if you really think about it.
I have a list on my mirror that I read on the days I feel like the pain is endless. It lists everything that’s good, important, or something I don’t want to miss. Some things seem very insignificant…hot chocolate, a new book in a series I’m reading, I’ll never feel the sun on my face. Others are bigger…a hug from a friend or loved one, finally having a good day.
As hard as it is, the choice is ultimately yours. But, in the great scheme of things, it isn’t about your family being selfish, it’s about them loving and fearing for you. And it isn’t about you being selfish. It’s about you having to find a different solution to ease your pain.
