Last night my neighbors were playing their music so absurdly loud that I couldn't sleep

I either knocked on their door to ask them to turn it down, or I dreamt that I did..

I really hope that I actually did, I don't want to do it again

Many years ago I lived in a apartment an the guy next door would co,me home and put on his disco music with the bass full up. I finally got fed up, but my band's 500-watt PA system up against the wall between our apartments and plugged in a Led Zeppelin tape at full volume the next time he did his disco show -- last time he played the music that loudly.
