Weird sleep pheomina

Taking a nap years back on lunch break. I was in the break room. Sometimes guys would sleep in there on lunch. When someone I didn't trust was in the room, I would enter this weird state. I my eyes were open, I could move my eyes around and see the room, I was fully aware. The thing is I could hear myself snore and my body was completely still. Everything pointed to me being sound asleep. Is this common?

That sounds like “sleep paralysis.”

See the following article…

https://www.matherhospital.org/wellness-at-mather/diseases-conditions/sound-asleep-but-wide-awake/

…which says this…

“Have you ever lain in bed wide awake, aware of what’s happening around you – but you couldn’t move a muscle? If the answer is yes, then you’ve probably experienced the bizarre phenomenon that is sleep paralysis…

Sleep paralysis is more common than you’d probably think…

Studies estimate that most people experience sleep paralysis at least once, although they may not even be aware of it.”

@Similarname Never had it happen except when there was someone I didn't trust around. In situations like that it would happen. I literally didn't know I was even asleep except for hearing myself snore. I don't know if I could have moved or not. My guess is I probably would have woken up pretty quick if I felt a need to.

@Similarname It's weird, It's not like I've ever been on a battlefield or something where I would develop a thing like that. I was wondering if it's common.
