I Have a Messed Up Sleep Schedule

Working my eight week rotation on the night shift is something I’ve gotten somewhat used to the last twenty years. I just wish the other people in my home could have just a little compassion for what I do for them. Trying to sleep during the day has always been difficult. I’ve learned to keep my room dark as possible. The weekends definitely are the worst. Trying to sleep among the wife shouting at the boys, coming into the room and turning the light on, and letting the three year old come in and jump on top of me. But I don’t get angry. I don’t shout or lose my temper. I get a deep feeling of sadness because no one cares. So I get up, shower, find something to pack for my lunch, all without even being noticed by everyone but the three year old. It’s going to be a long night.
