When it comes to mental health disorders, one powerful realization and game changer is that not every thought that comes to your mind belongs to you.
Whether it be depression, anxiety or another mental health problem, I believe it all starts with invasive thoughts. Where do invasive thoughts come from?
Well, it helps to remember that everything in this ream is decidedly spiritual. We are in spiritual warfare. So the invasive thoughts come from demonic entities. And so resting in, meditating on, following and speaking the word of God, both internally and externally/out loud is your sword in this spiritual warfare. It is your only weapon against the enemy.
It reminds me of the sharp sword that goeth out of Jesus' mouth to smite the nations in Revelation 19:15 - And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
That sharp sword is the word of God. So if you speak the word of God to those invasive thoughts, to those depressive thoughts, to those anxious thoughts, you can smite them down with the sword of the Spirit.
It changes everything when you realize we are on a battlefield. Satan and his devils are running amok here on earth and are beyond visible light, entering into and affecting minds and behavior, because then you will know the only way you can win in this spiritual war and that is through The Lord Jesus Christ and his word.
The reason why modern psychology is a complete failure and admittedly has NEVER cured anyone is because modern psychology has a worldview that is completely contrary to the Bible and has completed discarded the spiritual nature of this reality. The spiritual is the fuel behind the mental and so psychology is completely oblivious to the true source of all mental health issues. This is why they are still in the dark when it comes to understanding the nature of disorders like schizophrenia. The Bible is the only thing that has cured the worst of the worst in society, like psychopaths, who modern science and psychology still haven't even figured out.
Satan has blinded many to this reality and he has blinded the minds of all them which believe not.
2 Corinthians 4:4 - In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
For those of you are not blinded, Ephesians 6 is a great chapter to help you win spiritual warfare.
It says in Ephesians 6:10-17, "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:"
As someone who struggles with OCD and its subtype scrupulosity, I can tell you that I would be in really bad shape if I didn't know the Lord and didn't have his eternal word to fight Satan and his minions with.
His word brings a peace that passes all understanding.
Philippians 4:6-7 - Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
It is only God - Jesus Christ that gives you a sound mind, not the methods of modern psychology.
2 Timothy 1:7 - For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Jesus Christ is alive. He has helped me. He has blessed me. All for Jesus. He is a true living savior. He's alive.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved (Acts 16:31).
In the book of Acts 4:12, the declaration of the early disciples - "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."
No name but Jesus Christ. If you don't know Him yet, this is an incredible invitation that "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13).
If you don't know Him, you can call on the name of Jesus Christ who died, was buried and rose from the dead and lives right now and who is God in human flesh and who loves you and wants you. Listen, He lives and has been knocking at the door of your heart.
