Psychological method for handling problems: [I Studied Psychology]

A method I developed. Or at least something I haven't seen elsewhere since I [i]think [/i]I came up with it.

You have a close friend. Someone who's been with you your whole life. You're like siblings you're so close. Their name is [your middle name].

They're going through a bit of a rough patch, struggling with some inner conflict, or having some other emotional/mental crisis. Their problem is [same as yours].

They're asking for your advice on how to handle it. What would you say to them?

I've noticed people are great at giving advice to others in trouble but have trouble coming up with such advice for themselves. Like the single guy giving great relationship advice. So I thought of a method to use this. Your friend, [your middle name] just so happens to be going through the same problem(s) you are. You can't come up with a method to help yourself, but maybe you can come up with some advice for them?

I've used this method myself and encouraged others to try it. So far it's got a decent success rate. If it didn't solve the core problem, it helped to cope with it or prevent a poor situation from getting worse.

I hope this helps someone on here.
