Using a gas stove when I was a teen. I used to have obsessive fears about gas leaks and an explosion so I was afraid to even try cooking. A few times I actually woke up in the middle of the night and went to check if all the knobs were in the right position. We had and still have a stove that you have to light up manually with a lighter, so you have to wait a bit before there's enough gas before you light it. And there's no system that would stop the gas if there's no flame. At some point, I realized I had to learn to do it if I wanted to cook so I kept trying and learned it's actually no big deal. The danger isn't as high as I used to believe as a kid. To this day, I still use only a lighter with flame, not that thing that only throws sparks and I'm quite sensitive to that smell added to gas and if I smell it in a store, I'm out even if it's probably nothing. I mean, now I'm cautious but don't feel fear over these things anymore. I don't feel any fear or panic if I see that the flame went out and a bit of gas leaked. Not that this would happen often but it happened a few times and I just vent a room and wait a bit before I turn on the stove again. As a kid/early teen I'd panic and would need some time to calm down.

Fire. Used to have nightmares about it. One day, I had zero fear of it and I have no idea how that happened.

@uncalled4 This is how some changes happened to me as well. No explanation, it's as if something in the brain simply switched. Not with fire though, this is the fight I had to fight by exposure.

I used to be petrified of mice, now they just irritate me .....:) Just getting used to them I think.
