The new antipsychotic I’m on is kicking my ass. Yesterday, I kept getting hot flashes to where I ended up sleeping naked with two fans on me and then the med keeps waking me up every hour.
Why the "Every Hour" Wake-Up is Happening:
• The Dopamine "Jolt": This med is currently adjusting the levels of dopamine in your system. Every time you finish a natural sleep cycle (which usually lasts about 60–90 minutes), the medication gives your brain a little "nudge" of activation. Instead of sliding smoothly into the next cycle, your brain "startles" awake.
Oh it fucking sucks. My head aches. My whole body aches from the last week and now this. This is the first time I’ve had such strong side effects from a medication. I feel that restless leg thing too. I’m just so tired.
