Starting EDMR in a few weeks.

I'm excited and nervous. I'm very ready. The timing is awful but I think I understand my life is balls to the wall or nothing at all. I've loved these demons but it's time to set them free and move on. It frightens me. But I realize I need to let go and change. I really want to.

Ive never done it professionally, but it did look it up and learn a few basics. It has a strong basis in actual chemical and neurological brain function. Its like 'A' connects to 'B' type thing.
- meaning, if you physically activate 'A' then you can make 'B' happen.

I was kinda stunned.
I use of for when my brain goes into a flashback deepdive and i need to get it out.
I do that 4,7,8 breathing, recite a mantra to fill up my thinking space....and do that lateral eye movement stuff..... and its freaky - it brings me out within MINUTES !

I mean, i feel kinda fuzzy and numb directly afterwards. Like my brain has been given an elelctric shock and its all blank, (i kinda dont know what i was doing before i got triggered), but its better than anxiety, freaking out, ranting mad and doing bad shit to oneself.

I think you should look forward to it😊
Every skill/trick/hack we learn to use.... is all well worth it. Its another one in the bank.

Trauma and shit never fully goes away.
There is no magic fix that evaporates it.

However..... there ARE personal hacks that can help us tuck it away, move around it, and give it the bird when it rears its ugly head.

Go for it 💪

It wasn't easy, but it made a huge difference in my friend's life. I very much hope the same for you.

All the best.
Wow. 🤗☺👍

That is not anything in my current budget
and I am so happy for anyone who is benefiting from any therapy and you are one of my fav SW peeps, so, I`ll be quite STOKED if you see positive movement in your life, as a result of EMDR.

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON my regular therapist just became certified, so it's not anything extra or special.

I'm hoping I can handle it and have some success. Thank you!

It was very helpful for me. Just remember that it isn’t about removing the demons…it’s about controlling them and putting them in their place.

what's edmr?
ScreamingFox · 41-45, F
@Pretzel Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured, evidence-based psychotherapy designed to alleviate distress from traumatic memories. It utilizes bilateral stimulation—such as eye movements, taps, or tones—while focusing on traumatic memories to help the brain reprocess and integrate them, reducing their emotional intensity. It is primarily used for PTSD but also treats anxiety, depression, and phobias.
