Your thoughts on self diagnosis?

I mean, yeah I get it... on one hand not everyone can afford an assessment for XYZ,

But on the other hand, even if you could afford an assessment, that isn't a guarantee that a pro is going to diagnose you with what you think you have.

I mean, ADHD didn't even cross my mind when I went to a psychologist.
Thought what I was going through was purely OCD ....

And it's about the treatment pathway that comes with diagnosis, not just the diagnostic label 👀

It's tricky because it could manifest placebo symptoms that don't exist either way like you mentioned. Women can act & convince themselves they are pregnant for example. They will have pregnancy symptoms with a baby bump and everything. Kinda fascinating & scary at the same time. Either way it's important to have a professionals help but I know that's not always possible. At the end of the day it's on the individual to take care of themselves and figure out their own mental health journey. Maybe avoid the know it alls on Tik Tok though. 👀🤭 Therapy is major for me and books for others experiences helps my sanity.

@KittenSmitten0 lol, yeah TikTok is basically turning legit mental struggles into horoscopes and straight up Barnum effect

It's very frustrating sometimes.

I do it as I can't afford a doctor's price.
