How can I make myself want to clean and keep the house nice?

Please don’t judge. My depression makes me not care about how I live.

The struggle is real!

Reducing clutter and unwanted items can help, if an object doesn't serve any good purpose it can cause stress just taking up mental space no matter how small.

Using to do lists can help, then the sense of accomplishment after getting to cross it off the daily list.

Go to bed early and wake up early, do the most stressful task first and the rest of the day should be a little brighter.

Reward yourself for completing things, plan a coffee/treat break after XYZ is done. Plan an evening movie, games, books, hobby, new candle etc. to enjoy after a busy day.

Schedule yourself time for certain things, like laundry on weekends then you'll have clean linens ready for the week. Choose certain days to maintain certain rooms/chores.

Meal prepping or having a menu for the week in advance can help save on leftovers and time figuring out what to eat.

Ask for help, see if a friend, kid, loved one etc. can give you company/body doubling, many hands make light work and twice as fast.

Splurge a little on new cleaning supplies or organizational tools, the excitement of something new may help motivate you to use it.

Remind yourself your worth it, and how nice a clean environment feels. Don't forget not to stress if you don't complete everything you wanted to. Even if the most you can do in a day is take a shower, it's okay to have down days.

As others wrote below , the biggest impact is reducing clutter. It’s freedom and makes life easier - and easier to clean and organize. You’ll cherish and use the things that remain, and you’ll save money.
Start small ... One little corner ...
