It was a do or die attempt to open a can of pineapple with a flip top. The flip top key broke off. I decided I was going to open that can no matter what...and now I have to live with the what.

I injured my left hand pretty badly doing it. I developed a trigger finger and a ganglion on my wrist from the attempt. The trigger finger was repaired, and I will be looking into surgery for the ganglion sometime this year.

@4meAndyou Oooh that’s bad. I sliced my finger one time using a key to open a canned beef. It sliced it like a razor.

@4meAndyou I was using my mandoline to slice something one time and was going too fast and sliced the side of my finger, it was connected by skin. I cleaned it and taped it up. The side of my finger was numb so I had cut the nerve. It took about a year to heal up.

@cherokeepatti I had a cheap mandolin once. I got rid of it because it looked so dangerous. It had a little pusher, but I couldn't see how the pusher could possibly push the things I wanted to slice.

@4meAndyou This was made in Austria, they sent a glove to wear when using it and I wasn’t wearing it. I had gotten over-confident and let my guard down. Started wearing the glove again.

@cherokeepatti I got one of those gloves when I ordered my knife sharpener. I don't think I need it, but I always wear it anyway.
