For those of you who see/seen a therapist,

And even more so, those who have been nagged by friends and family to see a therapist,

Have you ever had the same friends and family tell you:

"you better not talk about this with your therapist!"

Or

"You better not be telling your therapist about me!"

I mean, if they are doing something, whatever it is, that is causing you to struggle to cope,

Then what the hell are you supposed to tell your therapist?

And I mean, even if you are the problem and they friends/family members aren't,
Then how is the therapist supposed to help you identify that so you can work on it if you don't tell them anything?

So what the heck was with the nagging me to see a shrink if you don't want me to talk about what's bothering me?

It's like: "we want you to seek help, but don't want you to receive it"

You do not need to see a therapist at all - very expensive

I would recommend that you write down the good, the average and the bad in your life

Now you can see your concerns on the areas that you are doing well, and areas that need improvement

@nedkelly yeah I do that a lot too,
And I generally try to figure out my problems by myself as much as I can

But my therapist has pointed me in directions I woulda never thought of before.

She's basically just there to help me with what I'm stuck on 😅

You do give a very good suggestion tho,
It's very helpful and even therapists would recommend it as a habit
