Are there any psychologists or psychiatrists on here?

If so what are your thoughts on people that come here, why this site out of all others, why are you on here? Just curious :)
I’m pretty sure I may be part of a case study.
@IntrepidGirl oh, I have so many issues. I would be a good one, most likely. And it wouldn’t matter to me, I guess if something was learned from it.

@JustGoneNow i feel you on this, i think i would give any psychiatrist such good fodder
@IntrepidGirl I’ve talked about a lot of my issues on here. 🖤

Quora is the most useful and professional imo. I just come on here to shoot the 💩. I don’t think this is exactly the best place to look for meaningful advice their may be a few on here that are going to give a well educated answer but it’s mostly pervs on here or people looking to vent.
@Wallflow3r yeah, you’re better off looking for support than advice here. There are people that care, but advice is much tougher to find and not typically good.

Ask the admin. Their algorithm is basically based on social psychology. And why they don't want to talk about it.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@IntrepidGirl Question: How would you change any site so there is less social confrontation?

Please bear in mind many on this site have very strong opinions. And their opinions are unwavering. In other words, the arguments will never stop. So the algorithm hinders argumenting.

Keep this in mind as well when you see your own feed doesn't have many new posts. The site is protecting you from an endless argumenting.

Arguing in general lowers your reputation which lowers the number of people you see in your feed.

Noticed below you asked about what type of people are on this site. The majority are social introverts. Yet that means they often hold strong opinions of their own. They tend to think things on their own.

That doesn't mean they are right or wrong. Just that they don't follow others very well.

Being a social introvert doesn't mean they don't have strong opinions. Quite the opposite really. To be a introvert you spend a lot of time thinking on a number of things. And little time talking or listening to those around you in real life.

Other social media has popularity as their goal. That is very difficult to do on this site. That is extrovert behavior. And brings about other consequences. Like scandals which is quite popular in today's limiting social media.

The social followers on other sites, for the most part, have few opinions of their own. They are neither extroverts nor introverts. They follow the extroverts, which generally are the minority.

And the extroverts are always wanting extra attention from their followers.

It's this attention seeking is why the extroverts do not do very well on this site. The site algorithm actually limits their number of posts. Yes there is a maximum post limit. The algorithm will slow your posting down. As well lowering your "site" reputation if you post too much.

See this link again about that...

@DeWayfarer I think having norms around discussion that are enforced is good, this could encourage healthy debates where people are open to genuinely and charitably considering the other side. I think there's a way for similar worlds to this, simply by promoting users that are open minded in how they talk and produce engaging posts.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@IntrepidGirl yet it limits the extroverts.

I just made a post about that a few minutes ago.

I got one that believes they are an extrovert. Which is probably borderline extrovert.

Loneliness in life, they come here to find soul mates, as there is anonymity and nothing physical. It's all mind connection.
IntrepidGirl · 22-25, F
@in10RjFox also feel that
sree251 · 41-45, M
Are you implying that we are sickos? Psychologist make $75 an hour. Why would they be here?
sree251 · 41-45, M
@IntrepidGirl Why are you here? You don't seem like a "townie", the kind that find solace here.
IntrepidGirl · 22-25, F
@sree251 because I think is a more comfortable environment to be yourself and it's not performative, I don't feel as watched etc
sree251 · 41-45, M
@IntrepidGirl Wow, seems like you are townie material. You have found a safe space. Write some posts. Bare yourself for us to see.
I come here because I get bored and I can be anonymous.
And I can talk about any topic.
IntrepidGirl · 22-25, F
@Spoiledbrat yah I like that too

I met a few good people on this site with fierce wisdom

No psychologists, just psychos here
Pfuzylogic · M
Many here originally started at Experience Project 18 years ago and when they were shut down 8 years ago everyone was invited here by the SW developers.
EP was a gigantic wonderful mess!
IntrepidGirl · 22-25, F
@Pfuzylogic I remember! I used to go on it when I was 12-3

@IntrepidGirl
As I understand it, the experience project started as a sociological analysis of groups. Many joined as a result from their Google searches since Experience Project would show up on the top of their search list.
Pinkstarburst · 51-55, F
@Pfuzylogic It was created because the developer’s had a family member with cancer. He wanted to create a place where people could share their experiences and be a support system for each other. Sadly, as it is with everything, people ruined its purpose.

There are other sites?
SW-User
No - but I have tended bar and also drove a taxi for a time :D
sree251 · 41-45, M
@SW-User A bar tender is a good guy to talk to. A woman bartender is a turn off. It really pisses me off when I go to a bar and see a woman behind the bar.
IntrepidGirl · 22-25, F
@SW-User what are your thoughts on this online community?

Everyone gets a chance to speak. There are many knowledgeable, funny and complicated people.

I'm pretty sure it's the sense of anonymity that draws most people. Such places became pretty rare over the past fifteen years or so.
