My therapist thinks I'm neurodivergent

Shock horror

Ayyy another disability to add to the list. Step aside epilepsy, we've got a new friend now

Random but as a training therapist yourself do you ever self diagnose ,even subconsciously ?
@PepsiColaP a lot of the training is uncovering parts of yourself and peeling off several layers to see yourself in relation to others and yourself.
So there's no escaping that, it's a pivotal part of the training. Probably the most difficult shit I've done so far. With that and the psychoeducation, it's natural to see parallels and draw links into diagnosis that's come into awareness but even the most experienced therapists need help mapping out and regulating with an external person.

So yeah, subconsciously I do draw links to things brought into my awareness but I also know I can have traits and just traits without it being a diagnosis. Not everything needs to be pathologised, other times there's enough traits for it to labelled as such and it helps identifying it.
@HijabaDabbaDoo thank you for the detailed explanation, interesting to learn how part of the training is personal therapy.
I agree with the latter paragraph a lot. I believe the access to information in regards to pathology in conjunction with a lack of adequate education has led to a lot of labelling, internal and external, that is most often wrongful and harmful when certain things are just traits that can be commonly found in many ppl without the diagnosis
