Yes, most of mine have been diagnosed. PTSD, agoraphobia, social anxiety, and depression so far what they say I have. I'm sure there may be more.
OhIsMe · 41-45, M
@UnholyTranquility that sounds like a lot to deal with. Are you getting support as well as the diagnoses?
UnholyTranquility · 36-40, M
@OhIsMe I have a therapist and a pshyc doctor. And an out of therapy support system in place. About a quater of my sessions my wife will come along to learn new tools to help me. But she also has issues, and knew about mine when we met eons ago.

@Notladylike You work in the industry?

@Notladylike I find it's worlds better than the multi-axial system, and while it'll be updated to match growing knowledge, that's the very nature of any scientific discipline: evolution of understanding.

@SW-User add this to the lifehacks section of the site. It's how I've avoided getting diabetes too.
itsok · 31-35, F
Sure, but misdiagnosis happens. Comorbidity makes diagnoses hard.
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
Yeah but it took a while to get them pinned down.
OhIsMe · 41-45, M
@SwampFlower must be frustrating watching others trying to figure that out

I stop letting people label my crazy 😂

I’m plenty diagnosed which is insightful but means little in terms of getting better. And it definitely doesn’t mean anyone cares 😆
OhIsMe · 41-45, M
@SW-User yeah the obsession with diagnosis isn't helpful. I can understand the need for there to be labels but they should be secondary to solutions.
Magnolia21 · 22-25, F
Diagnosing and treating are two very different topics.
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
I've been diagnosed with

PTSD
Anxiety
Bipolar Disorder
OCD
Body Dysmorphic Disorder

We're not all on a scale, and mental disorders are not an accessory.
OhIsMe · 41-45, M
@Graylight mental disorders are not an accessory, and I have never suggested they are. However, mental health is a scale and we all move up and down it throughout our lifetimes.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@OhIsMe Not according to the discipline itself. While about half of use will experience symptoms of a mood disorder like depression or anxiety, it's not a scale but the development of habits, thinking and often neurochemistry that affects mental health. No one's on a 'flu scale.'
OhIsMe · 41-45, M
@Graylight I'm not here to argue. The rest of this thread seems to be a nice place for people to talk about what ails them.

The Dr didn't agree with me
Not where I am from. I don't have the privilege to know what the hell I have besides depression. I don't pretend I'm sane that's an insane thing to do 😁
caccoon · 36-40
Knowing we're all on a scale helps me accept I can get better and worse, given circumstances. It makes me feel hopeful, and recognise that it's not futile
OhIsMe · 41-45, M
@caccoon absolutely. It's health not illness. We can all work better on our health, or just naturally get well over time.

I’m probably a certified nut job according to the person with a low IQ … sure, lol besides I don’t pop pills .. never have, far too many side affects from that supposed cure’

Besides I like it a bit crazy … Not too much… like the Goldilocks affect ~ you know … just right.
OhIsMe · 41-45, M
@SW-User the side effects of antidepressants and antipsychotics are terrifying. I can totally understand why so many people don't stick with their prescriptions.
SW-User
Indeed

I could talk about this for hours tbh it’s an interesting topic of discussion @OhIsMe
