I'm Finally Being Legally Restored To Sanity

After a 9 year odyssey through jail, the courts, state mental hospital, and post release supervision....
I'M FINALLY GOING TO BE CONSIDERED SANE AGAIN!!!
There's a post of mine explaining a little more about the journey if you care to look at it. But the short story is this:
I screwed up while symptomatic of a mental illness. Specifically Schizophrenia.
Nobody got hurt.
Did time in Jail. About a year.
Was considered not guilty by reason of insanity.
Sent to a state hospital for a year. Was about to be released...
Sent to another state hospital for 2 1/2 years.
Got released.
Have been on a strict probation for 4 1/2 years.

But that all changes next month when the court is to restore my sanity.
I'm proud of myself. I've set goals. Met them. Managed my mental health. And have jumped through all the hoops the state has set up for me.

Haven't had symptoms in 7 1/2 years. The wait has been long. But it's soon to come to an end.

Always willing to chat with others who have been in a similar boat or are interested in this topic.

First and foremost, congratulations on walking the path set in front of you - it's not an easy one but hopefully you'll be a better human for it.

A word: No one ever thought you "insane." That's not terminology that exists (anymore) in the mental health and treatment field. Likewise, no one is "restoring your sanity." You've reached goals and benchmarks that have improved your life and made it personally and legally possible for you to wander among the rest of us questionable folk, but schizophrenia is a long-term condition that requires constant maintenance despite the inclination not to do so. I bring this up only because I don't want you to be blindsided down the road.

Enjoy every single moment in your new life. Be gentle with yourself, be firm with others and demand the treatment and respect you would pay to anyone else. You're set up for amazing success.

Great news, your life can begin again.
Any exciting plans?

@Gusman A road trip along the California coast. All my travels have been restricted and scrutinized since i got out. Looking forward to just taking a drive. Go to a hot spring resort i know in Big Sur. A healing institute with hot tubs overlooking the ocean.

@JohnnyBliss Finally able to do those things denied to you for so long. Life is going to get good again.
Enjoy it and stay safe. 🙂
