Does Time Usually Go Fast Or Slow For You?

Share your experience.. Does it go slow for you because you are bored a lot of the time? Does it go fast because you are usually busy?

Comment with whether you perceive time as fast or slow and your opinion of why that is.

The reason why this is a good post to answer is because through others experience you can get better grasp of how people perceive time and maybe even learn to control your perspective of it by observing what causes others to perceive it the way they do.

It usually goes fast for me the older I get. I think that this is because nothing is new once you get older. You've seen everything so to speak.
@Bri89 I've read something along those lines yeah when your memories are vague because you don't process what is going on around you time is apparently supposed to go faster.

Often too quickly when it's something 'fun' or constructive - though there are rare instances of a full day where it doesn't completely drain away horrifically. Those are my favourite days, usually involving music or some other creative task.

But impossible to do in this cold.

Time can drain really quickly when running about trying to get stuff done as well, but it's the really tedious crap that makes time stand still. The watched pot never boils.
@SW-User True boredom massively slows perception of time maybe because the mind is honed in on that one thing.

fast, because I spend most of it engrossed in whatever distraction I can find to keep myself from being overcome with anxiety and existential dread.

@TheWhippersnapper That just depends on the day, how interested I am in what I'm doing and how intrusive my thoughts are. Sometimes I can sit down to finish a project and look up and notice five or six hours have passed without thinking about it. Sometimes it's hard to really focus my attention on anything, so I just wander around the house trying a dozen different things and never committing to them. Those days are frustrating and feel like a complete waste of my time.
@SW-User Would you say five or six hours is a lot for the projects you completed or is that impressively fast?
SW-User
@TheWhippersnapper Ah no, for as long as I've been doing them, I should probably be faster. 😅 I tend to focus too much on small details. But there's something to be said for enjoying the journey instead of trying to rush to your destination... I guess.
SW-User
Fast but it's lots of time wasted need to be better at it.
SW-User
@TheWhippersnapper you asked me if I remembered details, like if I payed attention
@SW-User Okay so would you say that you do pay attention but you're not getting much done because you are focusing on the wrong things? And do you focus on one thing at a time or do multiple subjects occupy your mind at any one time?
SW-User
@TheWhippersnapper definitely it's a problem of focusing on what I shouldn't but it's not always like that.
I try to stay organized most days to avoid that and focus my direction on what is important.
Overthinking is the problem.

Maybe that time wasted will be important for me in the future Idk.
Like I’m in a bubble of my own, where things are slow and outside the bubble things are going fast. Don’t know if that makes sense.
@SinnerDinner You perceive time as slow but in reality more time has passed than you expected?

Time goes so fast for me. Days, weeks, and months fly by. I spend sun up to sun down chasing and playing with toddlers.
@QueenOfTheNerds Time flies when you're having fun.

Strangely it went really fast from 2012 till 2017
And then it slowed down. I’m happy it’s moving slower.
@Carlisle Was there something that occupied your time during those years that doesn't anymore? Or new things in your life from 2017 onwards.
Carlisle · F
@TheWhippersnapper so I was going through a lot of stress during 2012-2017 like extreme levels. Then after that I made a decision to leave my ex husband and since then iv been happy.

depends on several factors...

namely; amount of caffeine present in body, and amount of annoying people present in close proximity... 🤔
@wildbill83 When people are irritating you does that make time slower for you?
Joel8208 · M
it seems to go by quicker when i'm interested in whatever i am doing.
