Well yeah, it's true that it does, but unless I'm mistaken that really applies only to people predisposed to psychosis. For example someone with undiagnosed schizophrenia. We need to be sure we're not mixing up correlation with causation.

That said, from my own experiences as someone with OCD, I know that too much THC gives me anxiety and paranoia. Whereas lower THC actually relieves anxiety. That's cause THC has a biphasic effect.

@basilfawlty89 I don't know, the study points to areas where there's legalized pot and the associated use of specifically higher strains of cannabis. In these areas, higher doses are quite common so maybe they could be predisposed but we don't know that, the study did say that higher strains were causing rather than lower strains. Though this is just early information so hard telling, it's just what the study said.

We just know these are areas with higher strains specifically and that those higher strains are increasingly becoming more common.

@SatanBurger yeah, but my argument then is that people who've done hash or moon rocks would long ago been diagnosed with psychosis if it was causative and not merely correlated.

@basilfawlty89 You should really look into the link, it's there to make up your own mind about it and gives more information than I would. I try not to copy and paste from scientific studies, as I'd rather have people read it for their own conclusions.

But to answer your question, from my opinion, how do you know that they weren't diagnosed or went into therapy but the therapist or agency didn't correlate it to higher doses because someone didn't think it could have a correlation? Like this is a newish study of its kind so it's obvious health professionals wouldn't ask these questions. It just may not have occurred to people before.

That and people lie.. patients can lie to health professionals and vice versa so that's a lot of speculation about people I don't know.

So in my opinion, when someone like you comes along, it's not like I don't consider what you say, I just don't do "what ifs." Particularly about people I don't have any further information on other than that the fact that they do "hash" or "moon rocks" whatever that is. There's no information on their backgrounds for me to make an opinion on but there is a lot of info to glean from this study about people that I can make an informed opinion about because I can see the variables...

About 900 to be exact.

I just take the information present and change it if it changes. Right now, if higher doses are leading to psychosis then studying this more could save a lot of lives as the pot industry gets more and more legalized. We need more information.

@SatanBurger Did they control the grade and quality of cannabis? Did they categorize by age, because there's an important distinction between the forming and the developed brain. Men and women? Did they control for other medications being used? Past mental health? Current physical health? Environmental factors? Did they develop and administer the research as a qualitative study or is this anecdotal self-report conclusion?

Just because one study is diluted down to a one-line conclusion for the masses doesn't make it truth. Typically, it's a case of a little knowledge being a devastating thing.

Just because you don't like the conclusion doesn't prove it false. This wasn't just one study, it was done in several areas where pot was already legalized in other countries and have been for some time. Again, read the article.
