The Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine is the one to avoid, right?

Let me guess...some of y'all will probably say all of them 😂.

Actually, after careful research into all the majors (jj, az, pf, md), I concluded Janssen (Johson & Johnson) was the best of the bunch.
1) 1 shot, and DONE
2) Offers good protection against original strain (just like all the majors)
3) Offers BETTER protection against variants, compared to the other vaccines

As I posted before, those who looked at one number and concluded that Janssen was bad were not understanding the statistics. Is Janssen less effective? Against the original strain, yes. HOWEVER, that ignores the fact that all of the vaccines are VERY GOOD protection against the original strain. By comparing vaccines, we are comparing degrees of "very good" protection, in other words.

Think of it this way. If you get any of the majors, you are protected. If you get Janssen, then you get a couple of bonuses. You are better protected against the variants AND you don't have to get a second shot for the initial vaccination.

It could also be argued that Janssen has a 3rd bonus nobody is talking about. That is, AVAILABILITY. So many people want the Pfizer / Moderna shots, that it's often VERY EASY to find a clinic with excess Janssen vaccine begging people to walk in to get vaccinated.

The few people I know that aren’t vaccinated have Covid now. Wishing they had gotten the vaccine. I got the Johnson&Johnson and will be getting the booster ASAP.
Why avoid any? It's like deciding to buy a Porsche and agonizing over which color. It's still a Porsche.
I’ve read a mixed bag about J and J. It’s overall effectivity is less but that it handles the variants better. And that it was developed differently than the mRNA vaccines. But, do your research and make your decision
I got the J & J. So far so good. But we J & J'ers seem to be in the cheap seats. They're talking about fall boosters for the others, but there's not enough data yet about J&J.

The ones that say all of them are in the hospital.

Go for Pfizer if you can.

Do recipients really get to choose? I wasn't able to.
SnowBlack · 18-21, F
@bijouxbroussard I was told I was getting the Moderna.
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@SnowBlack I'm going to Walgreen's, and according to their website I think they offer at least two of the three choices.
@SnowBlack Moderna has a very good reputation. Nobody I know (including me, and my parents) had any serious side effects.
Depends on your circumstances. Over the long term it's the less effective, but its effectiveness kicks in faster than the two dose mRNA vaccines. J&J kicks in pretty well at two weeks. You really want 4 or 5 weeks for the mRNA vaccines to start beating J&J. If I lived in one of those Southern states where hospitals are overflowing, I'd take J&J sooner rather than waiting a few days for Pfizer or Moderna. But if your situation isn't dire, then I'd seek out one of the latter two.

Compared to Moderna and Pfizer, J&J wasn't very effective.

Just don’t use bleach and you’re fine

It’s said to be the least effective but I know a few people who given options chose it because of “one & done”.
Azlotto · M
I avoid all of them.
mikeylyksit · 41-45, M
@Azlotto Reminds me of that scene in the movie Dodgeball where the commentators are talking about the important dodgeball match-up. One guy remarks, "Hey, it looks like Average's Joes is going to FORFEIT". His partner then comments,
"That's a bold strategy. Let's see how it works for them..."
Azlotto · M
@mikeylyksit 🤣 Good one.
