Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Depends on how thoughtful a person is really. Thoughtful people tend not to forget, thoughtless people tend to forget everyone, including themselves. Most people are shallow as well.

So to answer your question, statistically, I'd say yeah mostly people do basically forget. But some do mean it and you or someone else could remain on their minds for a long time, maybe forever.
