In your opinion. Is forgetting someone and omitting them, the same thing?

@Kiesel omitting is pretty much impossible due to the memories. So yes, it will always be challenging. What we have to do is appreciate what we had, accept the outcome, and move on. Its not hard if you don't hold on to it.
