My brother's in one. Not sure if it's still going on though

I had an on off relationship over a period of 11 years.
It robs you of so much joy.
And as time goes on the break ups become more frequent and the time apart extends too. You then spend more time wishing to resolve things than actually working at the relationship in a loving and healthy way. The rush you get when you get back together is so euphoric is addictive.
It's not sustainable and I think can contribute to the world of health issues like high blood pressure, and strokes.

@Mellowgirl I understand the rush and excitement after all, it's like an addiction...
@Mellowgirl are you feeling calmer now that you aren't in that relationship?

@Lovebird much... Although some may say I have terrible taste in men .

8 year relationship that ended about 4 months ago, though, in practice, it has been over since COVID lockdowns started in 2020.
The only arguments we had were initiated by myself and always the same reason, it would get better for a few days then back to the same routine.
I haven't been able to watch or read about any sort of romantic anything in fiction and gave up on shared hobbies as it reminds me of her.
I still wish her to be happy and healthy with whoever she's with right now.

This usually denotes an issue with trauma and it is hard to break the cycle without treating and healing the trauma.
I have not gone through this, but I'm aware of what you are talking about.

The first 4 years of my marriage were like that. Before we had kids, I left my Husband at least once a month. We celebrate 45 years of marriage this year. 🙂
@SW-User ooh so in the end things got better despite everything?

@Lovebird Over many years, it did, yes.

If I break up once, then it is final for that dating situation. I cannot play with others heart strings or emotions like a YoYo and I will not tolerate mine being played either.
That is why I have not dated or cared to try the past 11 years, too many false game players.

I did it for five years. It is extremely exhausting and eats away at your spirit.

No, but I’ve had people keep trying to come back. However, when I’m done, I’m really finished.

Do you mean stay in the cycle with the same person. That has never happened to me.
