What does it mean to love, to you?

Interested in how others see this.

Depth in answers would be much appreciated.

I havent truly experienced love until i had my daughter and everything beforehand was an illusion because i didnt know what love was and was only filling in the blanks.

Love to me is a feeling, a bond and the ultimate sacrifice. Id give myself fully to this person.

Love to me is as simple as picking up their favorite flavor of ice cream, wine or beer on the way home. Preparing their favorite meal or watching their favorite movie. Just simple things that you know that they enjoy by paying attention to what brings them happiness. ❤️

I met my wife when we were 15, and I immediately wanted to be with her. We enjoyed each other's company and were obviously sexually attracted to each other, although we weren't having sex. It made me feel so good to be with her. I don't believe it became true love until I realized that I cared for her so much that her well-being was the most important thing in our relationship. I wanted her to be happy and safe. I would do nothing to hurt her, even risk pregnancy by having sex with her.
To accept I am a flawed human, but I have a heart of gold and mean well. To understand my trauma formed me, but I will not be defined by it. To allow themselves to be vulnerable to me, so that I can be safe being vulnerable with them. To accept my weirdness and love me for it.

Loving someone simply means consciously directing one's thoughts, words and actions towards supporting that "someone" in becoming the very best "someone" that they can possibly be.

Doing things that pleases them without being asked ..... but NOT what you think pleases them ....

The Climax of Life

Thoughts That Never Happened
Dreams Never Dreamed
Life Never Lived
Feelings Never Felt
Sights Neither Seen Or Experienced
Bodies Never Touched
And hope Never Existing
Loneliness Was My Only Friend
Alienating Songs Filled My Heart And Soul
But Along You Came Like The Whisper Of Moonlight Upon The Soft Snows Of Imagination
You Led Me To Starry Paths Of Excitement And Pastures Of Beauty In The Universe
You Gave Me That Little Glimpse Of Life
That Little Glimpse Of Hope
That Little Understanding That This World Is Bigger Than What We See, But That Which We Can Feel And Experience
That Which Transcends The Spirit In All Of Us To Heights Where The Songs And Poems Of The Writers’ Minds’ And Hearts’ Are Respun In The Fabric Of Our Souls And We Have Peace.
We Have Love.

Immense pain because only true love leaves one open to getting hurt. I don't think that my answer needs to be any deeper because it's really self-evident. Love anything but another and one doesn't have any hurt to overcome
ZulXeroth · 31-35, M
@val70 in a sense, I’m inclined to agree. The greatest betrayals come in the name of those who claim love.

I also agree that real love is indeed vulnerable and leaves us open to these kinds of things, and part of that is in trusting that it won’t happen.

Yet I also think that real love communicates, that it is open and understanding, that it is honest and in a sense, pure.

To me it is to sacrifice your time, money, and sometimes even your life. It is to genuinely want the best for the other person.
AnonymousJSS · 22-25, F
@ZulXeroth I’m just a very narcissistic person- even as a child. So for me, I genuinely need to care for someone in order to see them worthy of my time, attention and kindness.
ZulXeroth · 31-35, M
@AnonymousJSS interesting, so how do you measure worthiness, may I ask?
AnonymousJSS · 22-25, F
@ZulXeroth I mean, I obviously give humans attention everyday of my life, but I won’t like babysit, help with money, or give someone a ride just because, for example, unless I really care for them. I measure people’s worthiness when I realize I actually care for them as people.
Love is when you are utterly yourself in their presence. No pretense. No masks. No shields. Which makes you so vulnerable, yet you feel safe and nurtured.

When you died i shed a rainbows worth of tears. I spent the quiet hours alone again reliving fading memories with our songs.

I recalled sitting at your bedside giving you spoonfulls of liquids when you were too weak to drink.

Our single kiss is more memorable than the touch of a thousand uncaring hands. Our time together was too short.

I did what i could to raise your son after you were gone but It would have been far better had i traded places with you.

"If you asked, I'd say yes." ,You once told me.

Yes, a million times yes.

Love means taking care of their needs, expressing love verbally and physically. When in love, We compromise, adjust, and tolerate as well. Love is a beautiful feeling of contentment.
