I feel contacting those people who left me.. I don't know if trying to write them back is a good idea or not because of they don't respond back it will make me more sad.

You have nothing to lose by writing to them. They can not write back if you do not write. It is a good thing that you are taking the first step at reconnecting with those you have let slip. Go on, write and be pleasantly surprised.
