Just wondering what people think about this?

I rang my dentist, as I'd made an online appointment and they rang me back to pay a deposit for it,( not sure why the don't have the facility to pay that online) ... The receptionist rang to tell me this, but I was in the car and didn't have my card number to hand, so I said I'd call her back, which I did... She answers the call and is clearly talking to me on speakerphone and she's clearly not even in the jurisdiction of the phone as she can't hear me and thought I was someone called Nicole..

Do you think this is rude for a business receptionist to answer customer calls on speakerphone?

Oh yeah and when she originally called me, she had me on speakerphone then too

"Here, let me put you on speakerphone for the whole office to hear. Now, what was your card number again?"

If she's busy they should have a phone system that supports headsets
Then only you and her can hear the conversation
Yes.
Its buisness.
And in this instance shes asking you about your personal bank details!
For you to pay, woukdnt let she have to ask for your bank account number?

....over speakerphone?

Errr. . yah NAH

Yes, patient information should be secure from other ears
Yeah , I think it's rude ...especially with patient confidentiality
Yes, that's pretty unprofessional.

Not just rude but compromising to your confidentiality, both medically and financially. You don't want to be giving out your card number to the listening public. I would definitely challenge that.
@AbsolutelyFabulous id report that.
They are allowed to hang up on abusive calls....but not just cut you off like that.
@OogieBoogie I would like to, but I won't, I'm just taking my business elsewhere

The conversation should be private and confidential.
