Embracing winter

Drifting...

into the still placid of winter
The absence of color,
stains me with it’s melancholic comfort

Alone in this warm breath sigh,
that floats like cool fog
against a soot sky

Dawns soft laced caress
spills across the hills
I give my spirit intimately into it.

A reticent sun covered
It's intense golden heat hidden,
like a discreet lovers secret

Beyond, the north lies vast,
of snow, bone-white elegy
My restlessness held in the peace of solitude

I adore what is simple, and here
Where otherwise anechoic,
the slow creak of branches and the flight of birds
sing for me..

I've been trying to write again... not having much luck yet. You certainly surpassed me! This is lovely, and the way I wish to write... beautiful words, all linked by you in your clever way... I hope you don't mind:

Against a soot sky
Winter's bone-white elegy
My restlessness held

Your words inspire! 💜☮🤗
Magenta · F
@CCMorgan Aw I feel you! This didn't come easy, I struggled, ugh. I've been getting inspiration elsewhere.

I adore it! You know how I like haiku's and you are one of the few that knows how to create them. 😍🤗
Magenta · F
@CCMorgan P.S. I wonder if "prompts" like COI once posted, would help?
CCMorgan · 51-55, M
@Magenta Sometimes they do... I used to enjoy the challenge! ☺

I just need my mind to be in the right place, and I'm sure the words will flow again ☮

The stark absence of color in winter can accentuate what little bits remain. A picture of "The Hut" midwinter with just the hint of color left on the tree. It evokes hope for me, that all is not flat and lifeless.
Magenta · F
@bowman81 Ooh looks cold and stark. Snow is beautiful clinging to the branches. But yes I love that hint of color! There are trees here with rust colored leaves still attached even though it's been quite windy lately.

Wintertime does bring a sense of solitude. Like the world is sleeping and waiting for the spring sun to awaken. It's beautifully written, Magenta
Magenta · F
@ReneeT Mmhm. I've missed taking a walk in the fresh pristine snow this year, we don't have any. There is something so special about it.❄
Danke.
As subtlety beautiful as windless winter landscape, sun sparkling upon a pristine Crystalline snow strewn path. ❄

Such a delight to read your enlightened prose.
You are truly a gift and an inspiration to us all. ❤
Magenta · F
@Onestarlitnight Aaww thanks much. And I loved your words.

I especially love 'like a discreet lover’s secret'—it adds a touch of mystery and hidden passion beneath all that quiet. Beautiful imagery throughout!

You and your saw, hmm? ;-) @SmileOnYourBrother
We've had virtually no snow this winter.
Magenta · F
@Pfuzylogic What?? I'm confused.
No, I just wrote, I wasn't trying to create haiku style.
Pfuzylogic · M
@Magenta My mistake! I was reviewing other responses and misunderstood. What you wrote is simply incredible.
Magenta · F
@Pfuzylogic Oooh ok, no worries. 😊

And thank you.

Besides, it's poetry!
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
No poetic words of late come to mind.

No utterances long to speak.

The void consumes in timeless silences.
Magenta · F
@DeWayfarer Oh gawd, I can relate. Took me a week to finish.
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
“The absence of color” ’is a nice phrase for a snowy scene.
Magenta · F
@Harmonium1923 Grey can be soothing.
