From Wikipedia: Leonard's comedic method was sarcastic and aggressive, creating an "insult humor" genre which anticipated Don Rickles. (Leonard was roastmaster at the Friars' Club roast of Rickles, who he introduced as "a man who's been doing my act for about 12 years now.")

I always like how Don took jabs at everyone he came in contact with.
Like when Don Rickles and Dick Van Dyke. Them two together was Hilarious. I was watching the unedited bloopers from the Dick Van Dyke Show.
Rare that I laugh so hard from something filmed in the 1960s

@HumanEarth
Now I'm going to look that up for sure.
You must read about how he set Sinatra up in order to impress his then girlfriend. Sinatra loved his trick and this made them pals for life.

To narrow down your search. The bloopers are on the DVD set extras
But I'm sure you can find it doing a DuckDuckGo Search

He developed a style that was abrasive to everyone and people loved it today he would never get by with it

Thats because everyone became sensitive sissy and people don't have a backbone no more. That's how I see it

Yes, he was a great comedian and also a very good actor.

I liked Mr. Warmth on the Dick Van Dyke Show.

Hilarious in person
HumanEarth · 56-60, F
Never saw him in person, but always made my funny bone crack up. Specially on the celebrity boast shows

Rickles always made me laugh. He had a rare ability to tear up people with insults and be likeable at the same time.

Nope.
