The longest nap I've taken lasted approximately 3.5 hours.
Two years after my husband died.

I ain't saying shit - can't touch that. I gotta show Respect. Cause I know, if mine went before me. I would be in the same freaking place

The strangest nap I ever had was when I was working in the bush. We were teaching bush survival to airmen of the Canadian Armed forces. The training took place in mountainous terrain and involved a lot of walking. We would average 20 miles a day up and down hill so we were in pretty good shape. However you can only work so many 18 hour days before you need sleep. Our students left at 3 in the afternoon and all the instructors headed to bed for a nap. Some time later the Commanding Officer came into our bunk house and woke us up by banging on the stove. When we were sufficiently awake he informed us that we had to drive to the base to be paid and oh by the way he had a fresh pot of coffee on for us before we left. We wandered out of the bunkhouse and noticed the sky was still heavily overcast. Maybe some rain or even snow. It was July in the mountains in Alberta so.... We decided to forego the coffee and jumped into one of the crew's car and headed into town skipping the coffee on the way. We thought it was about 7 in the morning as we roared down the highway. Pay day was just two hours east of our camp and we were looking forward to getting paid and having a few beers in the mess. As we are racing along I am listening to the radio and the disc jockey is usually on in the evening. Hmmm. By 8 in the morning the sky still overcast is getting darker not lighter...... The penny drops. Yes our clocks said 7 but it was 7 in the evening. We had slept so soundly we didn't twig to the fact that we had only slept for 4 hours. All was not lost. We made it to the mess before the bar closed and were able to have a few beers before we crashed for the rest of the night.

After a long work day, "Just a few minutes I mumbled to myself." 12 hours later my alarm went off. 😅
